Teacher/Student Ratios

Southborough Extended Day Program, Inc. is licensed by the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care.  This licensing requires all School-Age programs to maintain a staff to child ratio of at least 13:1. As a matter of practice, the SEDP programs always maintain a ratio of 8:1 or 10:1, depending upon the activity and/or the age of the children involved. When the program offers field trips, the ratios are never more than 6:1. These ratios enhance our ability to offer students more individual care and supervision, ensuring that we are maximizing the experience on as many levels as possible.

Tuition Policy and Fee Schedule (download pdf)

•    Extended Day's yearly tuition is divided into ten (10) monthly payments based on the current school calendar.  There are no discounts or substitutions for holidays, absences, or vacations.  There is a 5% discount of monthly tuition for families with more than one child.
•    Your tuition is due on the first of each month and may be mailed to PO Box 390 Southborough, MA 01772 or dropped off at your child’s site in our payment box.  Statements are mailed home during the last week of the month for the upcoming month.
•    A $25.00 late payment fee is automatically assessed if tuition is not received by the 10th of each month.
•    A payment of one month’s tuition is required for deposit.  Deposits are non-refundable.
•    If your family is new to our program, a one-time $25 registration fee is required.
•    You must give 30 days notice in writing for any reduction in your child’s schedule at Extended Day.   Please fill out and return a schedule change form.
•    If space is available and you want to add days to your child’s schedule in the middle of a month, a $20 per day charge is added for the additional days your child attends during that month.  This payment is due on the day the schedule change takes effect.  Please fill out a schedule change form.
•    If you are enrolled in any of our after school programs and need to utilize our before school program at Finn or Woodward on occasion, a fee of $10 per morning will be charged.
•    Full-Day Programs are $60 per day.  This includes any holidays, professional development days, or vacation days we are open.  There is no additional charge for early release days.
•    Families currently enrolled in Extended Day are given priority during registration.

Registering for SEDP is very easy.  Simply download the registration schedule to select your days for childcare.  We understand that things change from time to time.  If you need to make an edit to your childcare, please fill out the schedule change form and send it directly to Karen Isaacson through your site coordinator.

Snow Policy

We will provide snow-related program information at 508-481-9353 after 6am.  Alternatively, please listen to local television and radio stations for school closings.

If the Southborough Public Schools are closed due to weather conditions, Extended Day will also be closed.  If there is a 'Delayed Start', there will be no Before School program at Woodward or Finn Schools.

If there is an Early School Dismissal, the following occurs:
•    When school closes early due to severe weather, Extended Day will remain open 1 hour after the children have been dismissed from school.  For example, if the children are dismissed from school at 11 am, Extended Day will remain open until 12pm.

•    Your options for getting your child(ren) home are: their school bus; picking then up at school; or picking them up at SEDP

•    If you choose to pick your child(ren) up from SEDP, we strongly encourage you to get here as soon as possible for the safety of the children and our staff.

•    Be sure to have an alternative pick up plan in place for your child, in case you are not able to get here within the 1 hour period after the children are dismissed from school.

•    Please call the site your child(ren) attends to let the staff know how he/she will be getting home.

Homework (download pdf)

The SEDP staff tries their best to help your child get started (at least) on their homework.  Here is how we handle homework at SEDP.

  • At Finn, there is no formal "homework time".  Children in first grade can do homework in our free play area and a staff member will try to assist.
  • At Woodward, Homework Time is from 4-4:30pm where the children have the opportunity to do homework with a staff member to supervise.  Homework is done in a separate room or in the classroom.  The children can choose to do homework for a longer period of time, but we cannot guarantee a silent area.  Please let the Site Coordinator know if you want your child to do homework at Extended Day.  She keeps a list to remind the children that they need to get their homework started.
  • At Neary, Homework Time is from 3:45-4:45.  During this time only quiet reading and homework is allowed for everyone.  All staff are on hand to assist during this time.  Please remind your children homework is their responsibility.  If he/she says "I don't have any homework", we will let them read or do something else quiet.  Some projects we do at Extended Day can be used for the "Non-Traditional" homework, but SEDP does not provide projects specifically for this purpose.
  • At Trottier, homework is done in the classroom or the library when its available.  There is no set homework time.  Activities, games and crafts are available to kids who have finished their homework or for those who are going to finish it at home.   By 6th grade, the students need to take responsibility for their assignments.  Our staff can assist, remind and encourage, but we are not the "homework police".

Please speak to the Site Coordinator at your child's program if you have further questions about homework.
